Rowville Level 3

Welcome to our Level 3 blog for Rowville Primary School. On this site, parents and families will be able to keep in touch with the current learning from grades 3 and 4. The level 3 classes include:
3J - Jenni Bortolin
3B - Rachael Bennett
3G - Leanne Gauci
4B - Matt Bellefiore
4G - Julie Gogos
4W - John Wynde

We’ve had a great start to the year. Without exception we’re very pleased with the way the children in our classes are working together, with best work and best thinking being the focus.
All grades have been working very hard to develop strength in the areas of literacy and numeracy. Developing reading stamina and reflecting about what is being read is a major focus.
Our major area of inquiry this term has been exploring the understandings that Australia is a multicultural society and that immigration has enriched the Australian culture. A special learning experience was our excursion to the Immigration Museum and Chinatown, which included a delicious lunch at a Chinese restaurant –we saw some excellent skills with chopsticks! Throughout the term many parents and grandparents have shared their immigration experiences with us, and we have been treated to talks, cultural dances and very tasty sweets. Thank you so much to all those who have spoken with the children – it has been a real highlight to be learning from our school community’s first hand experiences.

Year 4 has been involved with the vegetable patch – preparing the beds, planting, weeding, harvesting, cooking and of course ......eating. The corn was a treat, and it’s interesting how many things you can do with zucchini! At the moment, beetroot, broccoli, strawberries, cauliflower, peas, lettuce, celery have been planted.

Year 3 are currently enjoying a 2 week swimming program, we’re so fortunate to have access to a swimming pool right next door.
Don’t forget parents to continue to help the children organise their time so that homework – spelling, homework grid, reading, maths practice and diaries are completed to the best of your child’s ability, signed and at school on the required day.

The Rowville Primary School Twilight Fete is quickly approaching. It will be held within the school grounds on Friday, 19th March. Each grade level is contributing to the fete in a different way. Level 3 students are collecting potplants to sell at the Plant Stall and prizes for "Sideshow Alley" The fete will be great!

What a term!
